St. Michael Team Captures Some Fall Baseball Glory

Players from around Minnesota, including a number from St. Michael-Albertville, hit their way to a championship in Wisconsin earlier this month.

A group of die-hard baseball players, led by a contingency crew from St. Michael, made their way to Milwaukee earlier this month and came home with some real hardware.

Here's the update from coach and St. Michael Baseball Director Scott Morris:
A few local Minnesota coaches wanted to extend the baseball season so we put together a team of players from the surrounding communities (plus our friendly rivals from Prior Lake) and took a trip to play club teams from Wisconsin and Illinois.  We only had a chance for a few practices together and just wanted to be competitive, but the boys surprised all of us by taking home the title at the Milwaukee Fall Championships over the October 11th weekend.
We had the chance to play on new synthetic fields which was a great experience for the boys as there is not much of these style fields accessible for youth baseball teams in the area.  And thankfully the warmer weather hung around just long enough for an additional 4 games before our Winter break.

We called ourselves the Minnesota Dirt Dogs as that is the style of ball we were hoping to play, but it was a little difficult to get too dirty on the artificial surface!!
Members of the Dirt Dogs were:

Front Row:  Shane Morris (STMA), Brandon DiOrio (Buffalo), Braeden Levandowski (STMA), Paxton Thompson (STMA), Matt Feldick (Buffalo)
