STMA Clay Trapshooting Team Receives Congratulations on State Tournament Win

The team was recently recognized at the St. Michael City Council, Albertville City Council meeting and STMA Schools board meeting.

Competing against more than 100 high school teams, the St. Michael-Albertville High School varsity trap shooters earned a first place victory for the second year in a row at the Minnesota State High School Trapshooting Tournament at the beginning of June 2013.

The victory hasn't gone unrecognized in St. Michael and Albertville. Coaches Scott Berning and Alex Steffens were present at the July 9 St. Michael City Council meeting where the team was recognized for their state tournament win. The team and coaches were also recognized at the Albertville City Council meeting July 15.

The team "started out last year with 34 participants and had 48 this year. It's a good program for the kids and has been successful so far," Berning told Council members, according to the July 9 minutes.

A resolution of congratulations to the team was also presented by the STMA School Board at its July 15 meeting.
