What You Need to Know About St. Michael-Albertville Girls Basketball at State

St. Michael-Albertville will take on No. 4 Eastview at noon Wednesday in the first round of the Class 4A state tournament.

The Class 4A state girls basketball tournament begins at noon Wednesday (March 14) for the girls basketball team.

The Lightning, who have been seeded fourth in Class 4A, will play St. Michael-Albertville at the Target Center in Minneapolis for their first game.

All games will take place at the Target Center, except the third-place game, which will be held at Concordia University at 4 p.m. Saturday.

Eastview, seeded No. 1 in section 3AAAA, . St. Michael-Albertville to get to the state tournament.

If the Knights knock off the 24-5 Lightning Wednesday, the team would play the winner of the No. 1 and one-loss Hopkins vs. Lakeville North game at 6 p.m. Thursday.

If they secure another victory there, the Lightning would proceed to the championship game at 8 p.m. Saturday.

Eastview placed third at state in 2009 and 2008, and second place in 2003 and 2000, according to the school's website.

Ticket Prices (per session)

  • Quarterfinals, semifinals and finals: $14 for adults, $9 for students
  • Wristband to allow entry to both arenas on Wednesday: $19 for adults, $12 for students
  • Third-place game: $10 for adults, $7 for students

A few special notes from the Minnesota State High School League on attending any of these games:

  • There will be no leaving and re-entry of the facility without purchase of a daily pass wristband.
  • No backpacks, duffel bags, briefcases, laptops or iPads allowed, except for purses.
  • No outside food or drink is allowed. A coupon for a $5 hot dog, chips and soda combo is available to print here.
  • Fan-created signs that are 18x24 inches or less are permitted.
  • Personal cameras and video cameras are allowed, but no tripods are allowed for fans.
