2013 Albertville Friendly City Days Schedule of Events

The 26th annual citywide celebration is June 5-9, 2013.

 Here's a day-by-day breakdown of the "official" start of summer in Albertville and St. Michael during the Albertville Friendly City Days.  The 26th annual event starts Wednesday, June 5 and continues to Sunday, June 9, 2013. See the pdf files above for full event details.

After June 1, find a list of the 80 garage sales throughout the city at local businesses and on the Albertville Friendly City Days website.

Carnival    
•  The carnival will open gates at 3 p.m. Thursday, June 6; noon Friday, June 7; 10 a.m. Saturday, June 8 and Sunday, June 9 in Central Park, Albertville.  Tickets are available on site beginning Thursday afternoon, as well. Discount Ride Tickets: Available at local businesses such as DJ's Ace, Emma's Express, Premier Bank, Little Dukes and more, you can save up to 20 percent on the carnival rides if you buy tickets from these outlets before the carnival starts Thursday afternoon.  

Where to Find Food

  • 4-7 p.m. Friday, June 7 - STMA Blueline Hockey Club will serve up porkchops from at the Lions Pavilion in Central Park. 
  • 4-6:30 p.m. Saturday, June 8 - Albertville Royalty will serve up a Spaghetti Dinner at the St. Albert Parish Center. 
  • All weekend the Albertville Lions will offer their pork sandwiches, hotdogs, hamburgers, and plenty of other food.. The STMA Youth Hockey will cook up hamburgers, brats, botdogs and plenty of snacks. The North Wright County Riverhawks will be selling pizza and kettle corn throughout the weekend. There will also be a specialty ice cream stand during the weekend. The carnival will also have food available for purchase.   

WEDNESDAY, JUNE 5
 
• The City-Wide Garage Sale opens throughout the Albertville area with most doors opening by 8 a.m. Most sales will roll through Friday, with some trickling into Saturday.  

THURSDAY, JUNE 6
 
• The City-Wide Garage Sale continues throughout the Albertville area with most doors opening by 8 a.m. Most sales will roll through Friday, with some trickling into Saturday.  
• The carnival will open gates at 3 p.m. at Central Park.  
Local music will be held, live, in Central Park, beginning at 6 p.m. Several St. Michael and Albertville garage bands will participate.  

FRIDAY, JUNE 7
 
• The City-Wide Garage Sale continues throughout the Albertville area with most doors opening by 8 a.m.  
•  The carnival will open gates at noon at Central Park.  
• 4 p.m. - The festival really gets rolling as events take over the Central Park. The Blue Line Club (hockey boosters) will have their pork chop dinner at the Central Park Lions Shelter.  
•  At 5 p.m. St. Michael and Albertville will square off, represented by their city councils and staff members, in a relay race. That begins at 5:30 p.m. at Central Park Fields.  
• One of the largest Upper Midwest men’s slowpitch softball tournaments begins at 6:30 p.m. Friday night at the Central Park Fields. Check out the local and regional teams in action.  
• BOB 106.1 FM will be live from Central Park, all the way up to the Shane Martin Band, live, beginning at 6 p.m. on the Central Park Entertainment Stage. The Big Back Yard Band will follow at 7 p.m. at the Central Park Lions Shelter. At 9 p.m., 32 Below performs at the Central Park Lions Shelter Stage.  
• The skies above Albertville will light up with fireworks at about 10 p.m. at Central Park (Note: This will be held Saturday night in case of rain).  

SATURDAY, JUNE 8  
• The day starts with a 7 a.m. Bean Bag Tournament, sponsored by STMA Youth Hockey, at the Central Park Entertainment Stage.  
• Any remaining garage sales wrap up Saturday.  
• The softball tournaments continue starting at 8 a.m. at Central Park Fields, and the old time hockey tourney kicks off at 10 a.m., rounding out tournament action.  
• The AFCD 5K, sponsored by the STMA High School Coaches Association, begins at 9 a.m. The race begins and ends at Stadium.  
• The Co-Ed Volleyball Tournament begins at 9 a.m. at the 152 Club, across the street from the park/carnival.  
• The Albertville Fire Department welcomes everyone to its annual open house starting at 9 a.m. at the Fire Hall.  
• The Kid’s Parade, sponsored by the MOMS Club, starts at 10 a.m. at the Albertville Fire Hall.  
• The Pedal Tractor Pull, a kid favorite, is set for 11 a.m. near Lander Avenue at Central Park.  
• Starting at 10 a.m., stop by Albertville City Hall to check out the historical display along with a craft and vendor fair.  
• A host of kid-friendly activities take over the Central Park Lions Pavilion starting at 11 a.m., including Root Beer Floats (Albertville Royalty), Fair Hair and Toddler Town (MOMS Club), and the KRWC Road Show.  
• Check out The 3rd Lair Skateboard Show at 1, 3 and 5 p.m. on Main Street, just east of the park.  
• Join the Albertville Royalty Candidates for a “Meet the Candidates Spaghetti Dinner” beginning at 4:30 p.m. at the St. Albert Parish Center.  
• The night ends with a slate of music on the entertainment stage, including performances by Farmer’s Daughter (7 p.m.) and Outside Recess (9:30 p.m.), both on the Central Park area.    

SUNDAY, JUNE 9
 
• Sports continue at 8 a.m., including the softball tournaments at Central Park Fields, a women’s volleyball tournament (152 Club), and the bean bag tournament. The Old Time Hockey Tournament starts at 9 a.m. at STMA Hockey Arena.  
• The Grand Day Parade begins at 1:30 p.m. on Main Avenue.   
• The coronation of Miss Albertville and the senior and junior royalty is set for 4 p.m. at the Performing Arts Center in St. Michael Albertville High School.
