St. Michael BMX Track Receives Home Depot Grant

Sandy Greninger applied for and received a grant from the Home Depot Foundation for the BMX track.

Construction began last Thursday at the . director Sandy Greninger had applied and received a $14,300 grant from the Home Depot Foundation to do some repairs and additions to the track.

All materials and supplies are covered by Home Depot. Twenty-five employees from the Monticello, Elk River and Maple Grove stores volunteered to help with the construction.

"They all volunteered their time or took a vacation day," Greninger said.

In addition to the Home Depot volunteers, 15 FYCC volunteers also helped.

Construction isn't complete as of yet but will continue. This Thursday crews will be working on a TUFFShed and another construction day will be scheduled soon to complete the remainder of the work.

Included in the plans was a motochute and a new announcers tower.

The is open for racing each Wednesday and Friday night and is open to anyone on Thursday nights. All riders must have long sleeves, pants, helmet and a bike to participate.
