STMA BMX Track Hosts Regional Race

The STMA BMX track newly updated through a Home Depot grant hosted a regional race with over 280 racers this past weekend.

The newly updated and improved STMA BMX track was busy this weekend. The track received this summer and was able to showcase the new track to other local and regional riders.

Riders from all over the state arrived Friday night and many camped out for a weekend of high flying BMX action.

Previous attendance records were broken with a reported 282 bikers and over 50 motos.

"It was awesome to see so many people there," St. Michael City Council member Nadine Schoen said.

"The BMX track gives kids an alternative sport," St. Michael City Council Member Chris Schumm said noting that the typical BMX rider isn't necessarily the summer baseball or soccer player.
