Temporary Street Closures, Park Hour Changes Approved for Albertville Friendly City Days

The annual event in Albertville is June 5-9, 2013.

In preparation for the 2013 Albertville Friendly City Days, the Albertville City Council recently approved temporary street closings and park hours.

The event is scheduled to take place June 5-9, 2013.

Extended hours were approved for Albertville City Park on June 6 until 10 p.m. and until 1:30 a.m. for June 7-8, 2013.

The Albertville Friendly City Days Committee had requested, and received approval at the City Council March 18 meeting, for the following road closures.

June 3-10

  • 58th Street (Main Avenue to Lander Avenue) – Closed all day June 3-10 due to carnival.
  • Lander Avenue  (58th Street to Barthel’s Driveway) – Closed all day June 3-10 due to carnival.

June 7

  • Main Avenue (57th Street to 59th Street) – Closed 6 p.m. June 7 until 2:30 a.m. June 8 due to Friday activities.
  • Lachman Avenue (57th Street to 60th Street) – 7 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. for fireworks.

June 8

  • Lander Avenue (57th Street to 58th Street) – All day due to Saturday activities
  • Lachman Avenue, Lamont Avenue, 57th Street – 10 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. due to Kiddie Parade

June 9

Closed 1-4 p.m. during the parade

  • Main Avenue (57th Street to 60th Street)
  • 59th Street (Barthel Industrial Drive to Main Street)
  • Barthel Industrial Drive (51st Street to 59th Street)
  • 51st Street (Barthel Industrial Drive to Main Street)
  • 60th Street (County Road 27 to Main Avenue)

In a letter to the city, the Albertville Friendly City Days Committee wrote it would be requesting assistance from the Wright County Sheriff’s Office for security and traffic disbursement during the event. The committee also stated it submitted an application to the Wright County Highway Department for County Road 18 (50th Street) closing June 9.
