St. Michael-Albertville High School, Rotary Club Looking for STRIVE Volunteers

STRIVE, which stands for Students Taking a Renewed Interest in the Value of Education is a Rotary International program partnering volunteers with at-risk students.

St. Michael-Albertville Rotary Club and St. Michael-Albertville High School are seeking volunteers for this year’s STRIVE education initiative, a life skills program designed to help struggling STMA students improve their performance in school.

STRIVE, which stands for Students Taking a Renewed Interest in the Value of Education, is a Rotary International education program that partners volunteer community and business leaders with at-risk students in their junior-year. STRIVE volunteers meet with students semi-monthly during the school day to teach them valuable life skills and tools to help them improve their attitude toward school, increase attendance, increase participation and raise their GPA.

Volunteers are needed to participate as meeting facilitators or small group leaders at semi-monthly, one-hour STRIVE meetings at the high school during the school day. The Rotary Club also is seeking donations to help fund the program.

“If you have ever wanted to share your time, talents and wisdom mentoring a young person, here is your chance,” said Aaron Thomas, STRIVE coordinator and Club President for the St. Michael-Albertville Rotary Club.  “By participating in STRIVE, you could be the one person who helps a struggling student gain the skills he or she needs to be successful in life. STRIVE is a first-class program that has been very successful at other local high schools so we are confident that it will be a great resource for the STMA community.”

To volunteer or make a donation, contact Aaron Thomas at 952-476-7183.
