St. Michael-Albertville moves up to challenge the "big boys," and will square off with Maple Grove High School for the first time ever in the first round of the Class 5A playoffs.

Coach Jared Essler's Knights have won four in a row, but face a tough first-round test in Maple Grove, a 5A school that has posted a 3-5 record but has fallen to some of the top teams in its class.

The junior rushed 16 times for a season-high 174 yards and three touchdowns in last week’s 42-20 win over Elk River. 
-- Cole Krutzig (St. Michael-Albertville – Quarterback)
The junior signal caller used his feet as he rushed for over 50 yards for the fourth time this season and scored twice on the ground. He also threw a passing touchdown in win over Elk River.
-- Dan Butorac (Maple Grove – Wide Receiver)
The senior has caught a team-high 44 passes for 683 yards and four touchdowns.
-- Brady Jacobs (Maple Grove – Quarterback)
The senior signal caller has completed 113 of 192 passes for 1566 yards and nine touchdowns this year.

KNIGHTS WIN IF...
They can shut down the Maple Grove passing attack. The Crimson has passed for 1599 yards and rushed for just 798 yards. The winner of this game meets the victor of Osseo versus Robbinsadale Armstrong.

CRIMSON WIN IF...
They can slow down the Knights’ running attack and force them to put the ball in the air. St. Michael-Albertville rushed for 330 yards last week. They have not passed for 100 yards in their last four games.
