Former 'Voice' Contestant, Albertville Regular Tim Mahoney Performing Saturday

The singer/songwriter will debut "I Meant It" and play plenty of old hits at his favorite Neighbors this Saturday night.

Tim Mahoney's no stranger to Albertville.

The Twin Cities musician has pounded the bricks all over the metro, but he was here in Albertville just weeks after making his way on national television via the first season of "The Voice" on NBC.

He's coming back to Neighbors Bar for a 21-and-up show beginning at 9 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 14.

Mahoney knows firsthand what it’s like to prepare for auditioning for reality TV shows. He was a contestant on CBS’s "INXS: Rock Star" in 2006, making his way to the Top 16 and narrowly missing the chance to appear on national TV (the final 14 made it there). But Mahoney would have his chance again five years later, when he was on the inaugural season of the hit NBC reality show "The Voice."  Mahoney did appear on TV this time, but unfortunately his coach, Adam Levine (Maroon 5), cut him in the “battle round.”

So Mahoney, who has been a full-time performing musician for a decade and a half, went back to work doing what he loves and does best—making music. He laid down "Hey, Adam Levine" as the hit track on his album after the television experience, and it soared on iTunes into the top 30 hits in the country. He's now followed up that ensuing album, "Shine Through," with a single dubbed, "I Meant It," which can be streamed online.
