Spices, Snapshots and Syrup Highlight Snowy Weekend Around St. Michael

Between the snowing the blowing there will be plenty of things to warm up your three-day weekend here in St. Michael and beyond.

It’s a three-day weekend (wait, again?) as the kids are out of school Monday for the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday. So, here’s a few things to bide the time, including a “grand” opening for a new Albertville business that will spice up your life.

Let’s Play Hockey

It starts to night as rivals North Wright County and Buffalo skate in girls’ hockey. The puck drops at 7 p.m. tonight at STMA Arena, with the Hawks having a chance to move into second place in the Mississippi 8 Conference with a win. Buffalo held serve in the first meeting on the Bison’s home ice.

New Albertville business Mustard Seed Spice Co. made waves over the holidays with their new seasonings for the season, and they’re celebrating the store’s grand opening. The store, which is located in former Insparation Salon spot in the Shoppes at Prairie Run in Albertville (also home to Patti J's and Snap Fitness), features seasonings, rubs, spices, cooking tips and tricks, and anything else you might need to make your next night of entertaining a success.

Strike a Pose with Specials at Maris Ehlers Photography

Both kids and adults can learn more about digital photography with local specialist Maris Ehlers on Monday, which is the MLK Day holiday.

First, kids can participate in a full-day class that will feature photography basics, fun and some pizza for lunch. Cost is just 60 bucks.

Then, later that day, teens and young adults can hang out for the evening session which is a “boot camp” for aspiring shutterbugs. More on both classes can be found via Maris’ blog.
