Hey High School Senior parents! Honor (or, generally embarrass) your graduate by participating in our Diapers to Diplomas feature. We've had a couple volunteers help us get started.
There's no doubt senioritis is setting in for those 17 and 18-year-olds over at St. Michael-Albertville High School. After all, graduation is less than four weeks away. Before they "leave the nest," we're going to take this opportunity to show the community how much your seniors have grown! We have a couple of "volunteers" to help us get started. Special thanks to the Christian and Green families. Now, it's up to the OTHER senior families to keep this going. All you have to do is click on the "UPLOAD PHOTO" button, and put up a photo of your graduate as a baby or toddler, and a copy of their senior photo, or a fun candid. If you have any questions, you can e-mail mike.schoemer@patch.com. Congrats graduates. And, um, sorry?

Two break-ins in shortly over a month have deputies working hard to catch a thief.
Wright County Sheriff's Department investigators are researching a pair of burglaries in Albertville, the most recent of which happened this week. Back on April 11, a resident in the 11600 block of 52nd Street Northeast reported a break-in at a home around 10:45 a.m., just two hours after the homeowner left the residence. Several items were taken, including electronics and valuables. "That one remains open and we are investigating," said Sheriff Joe Hagerty. "It really looks like it was staked out. They knew when the homeowner was going to take off and found that opportunity." Deputies believe access to the home was gained via a side window. Yesterday, May 16, a burglary was reported at 2:49 p.m. in the 6400 block of 64th Street …
Kathryn Jesperson captured the hearts of many at the St. Michael-Albertville High School Grand March last month. But her life is a triumph over a heart that almost failed her.
Kathryn Jesperson, a senior at St. Michael-Albertville High School, stole the hearts of the audience when her boyfriend of five months, Cameron Johnson, carried her across the decorated gym floor during their trip through the 2012 prom grand march. "It was just one of those things. We were like, 'Should we hold hands? Should he push me through?' And finally, he just decided to pick me up," Kathryn said. But the story of how she wound up here, today, is more inspiring than a grand march could ever be. Kathryn was a protégé of her big sister, Amanda Jesperson (now Amanda Schmidt) back in 2002. She would tag along as Amanda did dance classes, and, as soon as she could, took classes of her own. "There was no way she was going to start at …

District Judge Michael J. Thompson has filed an order asking the county attorney and the man accused of killing teacher Timothy Larson be prepared to discuss moving the case forward.
The Kandiyohi County judge overseeing the murder trial of Delbert Huber, the man accused of killing St. Michael-Albertville Middle School West teacher Timothy Larson last October, has filed a court order seeking standby counsel for the 81-year-old before his June 18 trial. Judge Michael J. Thompson has ordered that the court appoint standby counsel for Huber, who is accused of gunning down Larson, 43, on Oct. 8, 2011 on Larson's father's land in rural Belgrade. Thompson, in his order, is asking the prosecution and Huber, who is currently representing himself, to be ready to discuss today, May 16, whether or not the jury trial should begin June 18, or if another delay should be handed down moving the trial to Aug. 1. Central to that …
Trampolines seem to be everywhere these days. It seems you can find differing opinions and advice on them everywhere, too.
A St. Michael mom suggested this week's Parent Talk. "What do you think about trampolines?" She asked. Better yet, "what do you think about your kids playing on them at other peoples houses?" Trampolines have become just as popular as playsets. According to the May issue of Minnesota Parent, 500,000 backyard trampolines are sold in the United States every year. While the American Academy of Pediatrics recommends children never use trampolines, it doesn't feel like the most realistic recommendation. Kids see trampolines as fun, exciting and in some cases, parents enjoy them simply because it absorbs some of their kids excessive energy. To help curb some of the rapidly increasing statistics of injuries, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety …
Big Lake-based Pro Clips opened its St. Michael location last November. So far, business is sweeping up.
Pro Clips owners Brenda and Wayne Breum opened a salon in the Big Lake area back in March 2011, with sights set on serving the northwest suburbs. With a salon that prides itself on being different and using quality hair color products, it was only a matter of time before the pair decided to expand to St. Michael. That happened in just over eight months, as the newest Pro Clips salon opened in November, located next to $5 Pizza and Verizon Wireless. "They [the Breums] felt St. Michael was the next logical place," manager Robin Bollingmo said last week. Bollingmo, of Buffalo had previously worked at the Big Lake salon, but jumped at the chance to move to St. Michael. "Brenda and Wayne looked at the market and what was missing in this area, …
