I totally agree with this, David. Too many parents let their underage children have parties at homeRead More so at least "everyone can be safe". It's the same sort of logic that some parents use with marijuana - my kids will smoke it anyhow - I should just have them do it at home. These parents are not doing their children any favors by making them think these behaviors are okay, because they will carry this attitude with them even when they leave home and think they can get drunk or stoned and be fine, but now they will add a car into the equation. So yes, parents need to be parents. It's ufortunate that a lot of parents who drive drunk raise children who drive drunk.

Rachel, you're obnoxious.

Rachel's comments are well reasoned. I support Mike Marohnic's idea of more effective penalties forRead More first and second offenses before changing limits. There is accountability required when you chose to use alcohol and you chose to drive. If you feel the need to drink over the driving standards than you have a choice to drink at home, stay where you are drinking until you are again sober, arrange for a designated driver or take a cab or public transportation. Nobody is telling Gregory how to live, but he is accountable when he drives on public roads. To say otherwise is to continue to socialize the risk of impaired driving to the families friends, neighbors and employers of the victims of impaired driving.

Seems a lot of burglaries in Albertville are being committed by non-residents, in other words, theRead More dregs of society are travelling to Albertville to commit crimes. Is Albertville rated an easy target? Maybe and article interviewing the Sheriff can shed some light on how homeowners can better protect themselves, their proerty and their neighbors.

Let those swamps burn, I don't understand why they would put out the fire on dead reeds and catRead More tails, just watch it so it doesn't get away.

I had a good friend die in a car crash years ago because her fiancé was not wearing his seatRead More belt. They were out looking at churches to get married in when a deer ran out in front of him, he lost control of his truck and it rolled. He was 6'5" and she was 5'2" - and he crushed her. They/she would have been perfectly fine if he had buckled up. It was so sad and senseless. :(
Rick May 21, 2013 at 12:52 am
My uncle would have been dead HAD he been buckled because the side of his car wash totally smashedRead More in when he was T-boned. I agree. People should be buckled up, but it's also personal choice. And thanks to the insurance industry, it's law.
Rick May 21, 2013 at 12:52 am
"car was" btw, not "car wash."

That's a horrible intersection and I do wish we could have a turn arrow there. I've seen so manyRead More close calls happen and goodness knows there have been enough fender benders.
JT May 16, 2013 at 03:29 pm
There is a turn arrow at that intersection.
Willow May 16, 2013 at 06:09 pm
Ha, my mistake. I was picturing 57th and Labeaux, a different intersection that seems to haveRead More similar traffic issues. Thanks for keeping me on my toes, JT!
