We have to make people aware that our State is run by public employee Unions and we need court casesRead More like today which ruled that the California Teacher Tenure rules are unconstitutional so that we can change laws and vote people out of office who do not represent the interests of the public who pay the taxes.

Something that is interesting to note is that high school grads are going to four year universitiesRead More and studying subject that isn't marketable. While on the other hand you have people getting vocational training at vocational schools that essentially guarantees them a job out of school that will make them 'x' amount of money. So it isn't that college degrees are worthless, some are. It is also said that sometimes trade school is the right choice! Gaps between all day and half day kids?: I have an eight year history with the STMA school districtRead More and I have made a conscientious choice to send my three oldest kids to the half day program. I am confident that had the district continued with a half-day option while adding a free full day program, I still would have made the decision to send my youngest to the half day program because, like my oldest three children, I feel the half day option is what is best for HER. So many factors go into the decision to send your child to all vs. half day. And, of course, we had to consider the financial commitment as well. I addressed this issue with the former Primary School principal, Mr. Burke and I addressed these concerns with Dr. Foucault. Prior to the state approving funding for full day Kindergarten, the STMA school district has been operating within a system that denied equal opportunity to all STMA Kindergartners. If a family could not afford to send their child to the all day program, the all day program was not an option. Scholarships were not offered and a sliding fee scale, based on a family’s income, was not available. I asked the same question every year we were faced with the decision to send our child to half or full day: How can the district continue to support a have, have-not PUBLIC kindergarten program? The response I received should not surprise any of you because, if you have also had to make the full day vs. half day decision, you received the same message I received: The half day option and the full day option (also known as Kindergarten Express) is the same academically but additional time is spent at lunch, recess and specials such as music, art and gym. Full day kindergartners and half day kindergartners receive the same educational instruction. That made my decision easier as I no longer felt that choosing to send my children to the half day program would cause them to fall behind their peers. Fast forward to the 2013-2014 school year. On November 28th, Crow River News reported that “Supt. Behle explained that there are ‘gaps between all day and half day kids.’ Foucault followed up by explaining that “internal data shows that full day kids are scoring higher than half day kids” three times a year on testing.” A sad contradiction. The announcement that all day kindergartners out perform half day kindergartners three times a year comes during a time when the district is trying to sell parents on the idea that a half day option will not exist next year. I was lied too.

I am unclear what standards are state mandated for kindergartners? (It is important to note thatRead More Minnesota is one of only five states who have NOT adopted the Common Core Standards mentioned in this article.)

They left out the biggest CON of all, "Reduction of education to the least commonRead More denominator". This is an international standard from the UN called Agenda 21. It is on the surface described as a common set of standards WORLDWIDE, but instead it is limiting local school districts from working on the strengths of it's community, and limiting it to the least common denominator of other communities weaknesses. Our country has become great due to the diversity of thought, regions, communities, religious beliefs. This standard intends to filter out all of those pieces of the Jigsaw puzzle that fit together into one standard square block where none can excel in any area above another. And where Religion cannot be used as a guide. IF YOU ARE A HOME SCHOOLER OR PRIVATE SCHOOL... PAY ATTENTION TO IT. COMMON CORE IS DEFINING THE ACCREDIDATION TESTS THAT YOUR STUDENTS WILL NEED TO PASS IF THEY WANT TO GRADUATE TO COLLEGE. It is one thing to have some standards, it is another thing to extrapolate that to education going beyond true Core education. There is more Social Engineering than education. Less Reading Writing and Arithmetic, and more "defining society without God". That may be ok for some, but not ok for all. That variance is what makes a country like ours work. PLEASE RESEARCH AGENDA 21 AND COMMON CORE. Note that they say the states adopted it, but be sure to ask how much grant money they stood to lose if they did not adopt it. When you get the answers, please share it.
