This week’s obituaries are highlighted by the remembrance of Loren Schumm, who passed way May 3. He was 79.
Loren Schumm, 79, St. Michael, died May 3, 2012 in St. Michael. Loren was the longtime owner of Schumm Electric Motor Repair, and was a member of the St. Michael Fire Department for several years. He is survived by his son, Klayton, who lives in Buffalo; and a daughter, Karla, who resides in Albertville. Services were held Monday. The St. Michael Fire Department honored Loren with a display outside of Fire State No. 1, with a helmet, coat and boots on the ground. Jason Gutzwiller, 30, of Albany, died Saturday after he sustained injuries in a snowmobile accident near Walker.
St. Michael-Albertville High School graduate Jason Gutzwiller died Saturday night when he collided with a tree while riding his snowmobile near Walker, MN. He was 30. The member of the STMA Class of 1999 lived in Albany, MN with his wife, Carrie Jennissen. The couple have a daughter, Lilly, who is 9 months old. In a tragic turn, Gutzwiller is a cousin of the late Joey Bongaarts, the STMA teen who died in a tragic ATV accident in March of 2008. Family relatives were participating in a bowling tournament to honor Joey–the third annual celebration of his life–when Gutzwiller had his accident in northern Minnesota.
