Six Albertville parks were the site of the annual "Explore Your Parks Night" event May 17. Community members had an opportunity to check out a variety of activities happening at the Albertville parks, visit with community organizations, win prizes, see vehicles from the fire department and public works and learn more about Albertville parks during the event. Powerball results were watched closely Wednesday when the jackpot was $363 million. After no one picked all six winning numbers, the new Powerball prize for the Saturday, May 18, 2013 drawing is now up to $600 million. The one-time cash payout is estimated at $376.9 million. Tickets are $2 and the game is played in Minnesota and 42 other states, including Florida, Texas, California and New York. According to the Minnesota State Lottery, as of May 1, here are a few locations where you can buy tickets in the St. Michael/Albertville area. Community members have an opportunity to check out a variety of activities happening at Albertville parks from 6-8 p.m. Friday, May 17 as part of the city's "Explore Your Parks Night" event. Visit with community organizations, have free food, prizes for adults and children, see vehicles from the fire department and public works as well as learn more about Albertville parks. With the exception of the driver, no other individuals were reportedly on the bus when the accident happened near 50th and Labeaux Avenue.
A school bus and vehicle were involved an accident early Wednesday morning in Albertville. The incident was reported around 7:30 a.m. May 15 to dispatch, according to Wright County Sheriff's Office Capt. Greg Howell. Initial reports indicated the accident occurred near 50th and Labeaux Avenue in Albertville and involved a school bus with no passengers and a passenger vehicle, Howell told Patch. No injuries were reported. St. Michael-Albertville Schools Superintendent James Behle confirmed no students were on the bus at the time of the accident. A representative of Don’s Bus Service told St. Michael Patch a car turned in front of the unoccupied bus. The bus was still drivable, with “barely any scratches,” he told Patch. Updated 8:15 a.m…

After announcing an upcoming closure earlier in 2013, Sassy Seconds and More closed its doors in Albertville April 29. Citing family reasons, owner Lisa Gray decided to close the new and gently used consignment store that had been open in the La Centre Avenue mall in Albertville since 2009. Gray shared a parting word to customers April 30 on the Sassy Seconds Facebook page writing, “Thank you all for an awesome time! We enjoyed our time with all of you! Farewell and best wishes to all.” Customers responded: In addition to a consignment store, Gray and Sassy Seconds and More was known for giving back to the community, such as donating gift certificates to private fundraising events.
