Information provided by American Red Cross Teresa Hazeman of Anoka and Dave Nelson of Albertville have been named as recipients of the 2013 American Red Cross Heroes Award. Two of 10 Heroes in the Northern Minnesota Red Cross Region, they will receive the Good Samaritan award at the 5th annual American Red Cross Heroes Breakfast on Thursday, June 6, 2013, for displaying courage and caring upon encountering an unusual, significant or unexpected incident. While at work on September 20, 2012, a man collapsed in a parking lot after suffering a heart attack. The man, a co-worker of Nelson’s and Hazeman’s, fell against a truck and then landed on the pavement and hit his head. Nelson saw that the man was unconscious, and immediately began …

Sheriff: During the past several years, rural homeowners have experienced unsolicited sales of an asphalt product for application to gravel surfaces on their property.
The following was submitted by the Wright County Sheriff's Office. With the improvement in the weather, Wright County Sheriff Joe Hagerty warns residents of unwanted pests. During the past several years, rural homeowners have experienced unsolicited sales of an asphalt product for application to gravel surfaces on their property. Many of these salesmen are from southern states and claim they are working in the area and have extra material left over. They supply a business card with an 800 number and a business name. They do not provide a written estimate. Once the homeowner agrees to have the work done, a crew soon appears with dumptrucks and a paver.
