The winter storm watch has now been upgraded to a warning from Saturday night at midnight to 6 p.m. Monday for the entire Wright County area.
UPDATE 9:39 a.m. Sunday — The National Weather Service's latest information for Wright County released early Sunday morning states blizzard conditions are expected for the area. Around 7 a.m. Sunday, the weather service also stated thunderstorms are possible along with the winter storm. The area is still under both a winter storm warning and a hazardous weather outlook. MnDOT continues to clear roads, and the majority of metro Roads Remain in 'Difficult Driving' condition. Some are frustrated, others say it takes time to remove that much snow.
Five days after the storm, Minnesota Department of Transportation plows are still clearing snow off roads and highways five days after a blizzard dumped as much as 26 inches of snow in some parts of the state. The St. Michael-Albertville area got more than a foot of snow totals Sunday when a blizzard hit the area. Residents shared photos of their view outside their home during the storm. Temperatures are expected to rise on Wednesday and stay near the 30s through Sunday.
A northwest wind blowing about five to eight miles per hour has produced windchill values between -5 and two degrees in St. Michael and Albertville, according to the National Weather Service based in Chanhassen. The winds, produced after the weekend blizzard, will become southwest in the afternoon, and the area can expect occasional flurries after midnight with a low around two degrees and windchill values between -4 and -9. The flurries are forecasted to continue Tuesday, with a high near 21 and windchill values between -2 and eight degrees. St. Michael Catholic School's preschool through eighth grade will begin two hours late Monday, according to its website, due to the winter blizzard. St. Michael Public Schools will also open two hours late. Buses will pick up students two hours later than the usual schedule. Preschool will open at 9:30 a.m. and be in session until 11:00. Preschool "Stay and Play" and "Kids Club" programs will be open normal hours unless school is cancelled. If the school is announced closed, childcare programs close as well. Advanced band students will not meet Tuesday morning. "Be sure to bring all of your outdoor gear this week so you can play in the snow at recess!" states the school's website.

St. Michael-Albertville Schools will start two hours late Monday, Dec. 10, due to heavy snowfall and hazardous road conditions during the weekend blizzard that dumped more than 10 inches of snow on the metro. Morning kindergarten has been cancelled for Monday. STMA There also will be no morning preschool or Early Childhood Family Education classes. Preschool classes beginning at noon will take place. While a coating of snow is expected to fall Friday afternoon, the heavy stuff should usher in winter Saturday night, with steady snow through Sunday morning, the National Weather Service forecast states.

Forecasts for 10 inches or more were issued as late as last night, but recent developments show rain, sleet, snow mix will keep totals down here in St. Michael.
It's been a winter of "almosts" for snow lovers. The latest forecasts are showing this latest, "Leap Day" storm is going to miss the St. Michael-Albertville area as well. The National Weather Service in Chanhassen has adjusted the track of the blizzard, which is still going to pack a big punch for communities as close to St. Michael as St. Cloud, Little Falls and particularly Alexandria, as the storm shifts northward. There will still be significant precipitation here in the northeastern corner of Wright County. Up to 1.5 inches of liquid could fall in various forms, the NWS said, including rain, sleet and snow.
