Reward Offered for Information on Murder of Cold Spring Police Officer

The Stearns County Sheriff's Office is still looking for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person responsible for crime.

  Spotlight on Crime announced Monday that a reward of up to $100,000 will be offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the people responsible for the shooting death of Cold Spring Police Officer Tom Decker. Spotlight on Crime is a non-profit organization fund that offers cash rewards to help solve violent crimes. Decker, 31, was shot and killed Nov. 29 while on-duty, doing a welfare check at a Cold Spring apartment near Winner's Bar. He died at the scene. The intial suspect was released from custody after investigators discovered he was "not even close" to having connection with the murder. Investigators also have not found the 20-gauge shotgun beleived to be the murder weapon. "Investigators hope the reward …

Wright County Deputies, Honor Guard, to Attend Funeral of Cold Spring Officer

Since the shooting, Wright County Sheriff's Office has been helping Cold Spring and Stearns County law enforcement by covering some patrol shifts.

  With flags flown at half-staff today in remembrance of Cold Spring police officer Tom Decker, Wright County Sheriff's Office deputies and the department's honor guard are making their way to his funeral this morning. Up to 3,000 people are expected at the service, according to the Pioneer Press. The service is set for 11 a.m. at St. John's Abbey and University Church in Collegeville. Decker, 31, was killed by gunshots late Thursday night while on-duty when authorities say he was ambushed in a Cold Spring alley. Initial suspect Ryan Larson, 34, was arrested Thursday night and released Tuesday afternoon with insufficient evidence to charge him, as the evidence that was "not even close," investigators said. very sad.... it was an awesome sight on 94 this morning watching all the law enforcement vehicles lined up for miles with their lights on heading up the freeway to attend the funeral. It gave me the chills and brought tears to my eyes. I send prayers to Officer Deckers family, coworkers, community and friends. To all law enforcement.....Thanks for your service!   more ›
