(Click on the PDF thumbnail to see the questions and results of the survey, which the Graves campaign commissioned.) Bachmann Ad Bachmann's re-election campaign aired its first television ad of the 2014 season in the Twin Cities starting last week, 17 months before Election Day. You can read the affadavit and an analysis at the St. Paul Pioneer Press' Political Animal blog or at MinnPost. The Tea Party Caucus founder was Minnesota’s only member of Congress to vote against the bipartisan VAWA bill, electing to put her support by Rep. Eric Cantor’s bill instead.
As Congress passed the reauthorization of the bipartisan Violence Against Women Act last week, Sixth District Congresswoman Michele Bachmann, who represents the St. Michael area, took the minority position and voted against the bill. The VAWA, authored in the Senate, wasn't hard enough on trafficking, Bachmann would later state. She, instead, put her weight behind a “stripped down” version of the Senate bill authored by fellow House Conservative Rep. Eric Cantor. Bachmann, in her own defense, posted on her blog Monday to defend her vote against the Senate’s version of the bill, which passed the House 286-138, with support from 87 House Republicans. She writes: I was pleased to support the stronger House version of the Violence Against …

Once considered a long shot to knock off Rep. Michele Bachmann, a Republican stalwart in Minnesota’s conservative Sixth Congressional District, businessman Jim Graves is making headlines by keeping the race close.
An admittedly Democratic poll shows Jim Graves, a St. Cloud native and Minneapolis-based hotel magnate, is no longer the long shot people once thought he was. The Democrat who stepped up to challenge Rep. Michelle Bachmann in the steeply conservative Sixth Congressional District has brought his campaign into the national spotlight, earning recognition (but not cash) from the “Red to Blue” campaign conducted by the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee. Read about Rep. Michele Bachmann's visit to St. Michael's Marksman Metals But Graves still trails in money raised, is behind in most other major polls and can't match Bachmann's political experience. And he is not the typical DFL candidate. He has voiced his opinion against facets of …

The "technical" incumbent in Minnesota's United State Congressional District Six easily advanced to the general election.
After a failed presidential campaign, U.S. Rep. Michele Bachmann said she was turning her attention back to her beloved Sixth District, and she's right on track. Bachmann easily survived challenges from two candidates in the Sixth District, defeating Aubrey Immelman and Stephen Thompson in Tuesday's primary. She will move on to challenge DFL Party-endorsed Jim Graves of St. Cloud in the general election this November. "I look forward to talking about this issues with Jim," Bachmann told St. Michael Patch late last month. "I think he's a very good businessman, but we definitely differ on a lot of issues." When asked if she'd entertain debates with Graves, Bachmann said most definitely. "I was part of more than a dozen debates in my …
