Michael Dewey Paripovich, age 71, of Buffalo passed away peacefullysurrounded by family on March 3. He courageously faced cancer with grace and dignity. Married to wife, Darla, they lived their marriage vows, in sickness and in health for 51 years to the day. Loved by his five children and nine grandchildren, he modeled integrity and Christian living. His many interests throughout his life included photography, sailing, wind surfing, traveling, bicycling, reading and writing. He was a published author and lifelong scholar. His most recent and long-lasting passion was his Arabian horses. Alan E. Howey of Rogers, MN Aug. 14, 1949 - Feb. 27, 2013 Alan Eugene Howey was born in Morris, Minnesota August 14th 1949, to parents Lynn and Blanche Howey. Al was baptized at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Chokio and confirmed at Our Saviors Lutheran Church, June 7, 1964. He was raised on a farm near Chokio and graduated from Chokio High School in 1967. Al then attended and graduated from Alexandria Technical School in 1969. On November 6, 1971, he married his high school sweetheart Karen Zimmerman. They have lived in Corcoran for 36 years where they raised four children, Kristine, Michelle, Derek, and Craig. Rural St. Michael Dairy Farmer, Aaron Eull, Dies

  Aaron Ervin Eull, a longtime resident and native of rural St. Michael, who was a dairy farmer for more than 30 years, died Feb. 7 at his Monticello home. He was 87. Eull, father of nine children, was born in Frankfort Township, a village that later became St. Michael. He owned and operated Aaron Eull Milk Hauling and hauled can milk. In 1960, he took over his family's farm and worked on dairy farming in rural St. Michael. After retirement, he worked for ABC Auto Auction. Eull was an avid card player and fisherman who "was a great jokester and loved to make people laugh." He was a member of The Church of St. Albert in Albertvile. Longtime St. Michael Resident Dies, Writes 'I Thank God for the Gift of Farming'

Armella Mary Zachmann Schmitz died Dec. 7. Her obituary features a letter she wrote, saying she'd like to be known as a humorous person.

  Armella Mary Zachmann Schmitz, who grew up on a farm near St. Michael and called started her own farm from scratch, died Dec. 7. She was 95. Schmitz made her farm near St. Michael her life's work, and was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church. Her obituary, courtesy of Peterson Chapel, St. Michael-Albertville, features her writing about her life. She wrote that school days were her best childhood memories. "It was so much fun playing outside at recess and lunch with the forty children at our school!," Schmitz wrote. "No one claimed to be better than anyone else. St. Michael Veteran Larry Lee Essendrup Dies After Brief Illness

He died at his home at age 70.

  Larry Lee Essendrup of St. Michael, formerly of Raymond, died Nov. 29 after a brief illness. He was 70. Essendrup enlisted in the U.S. Army 1964 and earned the Nationa Defense Service Medal. He recieved his education in "bridge design" that became his lifelong work for Hennepin County. He is preceded in death by his mother and father, and is survived by son, Chad of St. Michael; two sisters; Mary (Jim) Wagner of St Cloud, Minnesota and Carol (Paul) Meyer of Clara City, Minnesota, in addition to one granddaughter, Alora Smith of St. Cloud, Minnesota. St. Michael Veteran Marvin 'Buddy' Kilian Dies After Long Illness

  Marvin "Buddy" L. Kilian of St. Michael died Friday at the Veteran’s Home in South Minneapolis after a long illness. He was 78. Born and raised in St. Michael, Kilian enlisted in the United States Army and served in Germany. Kilian was a former member of the St. Michael Lions Club and the St. Michael American Legion. He was also a member of The Church of St. Michael. Kilian was a longtime member of Maple Grove's International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Local 292. He started his own business owning and operating M.L. Bud Kilian Electric for over 30 years. Kilian enjoyed hunting, fishing, trap shooting, snowmobiling, downhill skiing, and playing with his grandchildren. He was also a history buff and enjoyed classical music. Here …

Rogers Resident, Founder of GreenStar Construction, Loses Battle with Rare Cancer

  Daniel Allen Block died in his Rogers home last week after a brief but fierce battle with Adenocarcinoma, a rare cancer. He was 46. The founder and owner of a Rogers business, GreenStar Construction, formerly known as Block Construction, became a general contractor nine years ago to start his business. He previously obtained a degree in CAD/CAM design engineering. Dan loved all sports, hunting, golfing, skiing, snowmobiling, camping, vacationing and spending time with his family.
