St. Albert's Fish Fries to Benefit Youth Ministries

The Church of St. Albert will be hosting Fish Fries the next two Fridays at the St. Albert Parish Center, with all proceeds benefitting youth projects.

While the fish fry is a thing of Lenten tradition, especially in a Catholic community like St. Michael and Albertville, it's always best to do a bit of good while enjoying your dinner.  St. Albert's Parish in Albertville will let diners do just that the next two Fridays, as it hosts fish fries at the local parish center to raise funds for this summer's youth ministry events.  In particular, the parish is aiming to raise funds for Extreme Faith Camp (EFC) and for youth participating in the Steubenville Rockies Conference, both scheduled for church youth and teens this summer.  Cost is just $9 for adults, and $5.50 for kids ages 5 to 10. Those age 4 and under are free.  The meal includes fried fish, coleslaw, potatoes, beans, buns and a …

Viewfinder: Fridays Mean it's Time for a Fish Fry in Albertville

Hundreds have turned out every Friday for fish fries at venues community-wide. We focus our photo gallery on St. Albert's Parish Center, which always packs 'em in.

If it’s a Friday night in Lent, chances are there is a Fish Fry or two you can attend not far from home. If you live in a small town, you will likely have your choice of the local parish, or the local VFW for your evening meal. Friday April 8, Patch stopped in at St. Albert’s Catholic Parish in Albertville to visit with some of the patrons enjoying the Fish Fry event.  Typically, Catholics will give up meat on Fridays for the roughly seven week season of Lent. The Lenten period – considered to be a time of sacrifice and reflection - commences with Ash Wednesday in February and ends just prior to Easter in April.  In lieu of meat, fish is frequently the meatless alternative and Catholics often use this time to connect and socialize during …

Worth a Thousand Words

Symbol of the Season at St. Albert Parish Center

For the fifth year St. Albert Parish Members in Albertville presented a living nativity outside of the parish center.

Members of St. Albert's Catholic Church in Albertville - along with some friends - braved the sub-freezing temperatures for two hours Tuesday to present a living nativity scene.  The traditional Christmas setting of Joseph, Mary and the newborn Jesus at the manger was accompanied by kings, shepherds and angels, as more than a dozen people got in on the scene.  Vehicles honked, passengers waved and one driver even shouted, "Better than any light display in the whole town!" The nativity scene will be outdoors again tonight, Wednesday, Dec. 29. Volunteers will set the stage at 5 p.m., and will be outside until about 7 p.m. Featured in this photo are (from left to right) Lina Lindenfelser, Monticello; Mary, 12, Monticello; Anna, 12, …
