Visibilities are dropping to below a mile to a half mile, and freezing drizzle is possible tonight in the St. Michael area.
The National Weather Service has issued a hazardous weather outlook Wednesday morning for Wright County and the Twin Cities area. A weak storm system is spreading light snow across St. Michael and Albertville. Light freezing drizzle is possible tonight through Thursday morning. National Weather Service issued an advisory for the Twin Cities Region, including St. Michael and Albertville.
The National Weather Service has issued a wind chill advisory for the Twin Cities area and the St. Michael area, warning that temperatures could reach dangerous levels from midnight Thursday through noon Friday. The combination of wind and cold could result in wind chills of more than 30 below zero, and as much as 40 below zero in isolated areas, during the early morning hours Friday. At such temperatures, extreme caution is warranted to avoid frostbite and hypothermia. "A surge of arctic air will spread across the region throughout the day today," stated the advisory, which was announced Wednesday afternoon. The National Weather Service warns freezing rain with a mix of snow will make travel conditions difficult in St. Michael and Albertville.
A winter weather advisory is in effect for Wright County through midnight tonight, meaning that snowfall, freezing rain and sleet will cause slippery roads and limited visibility, according to the National Weather Service. The advisory went into effect at approximately noon Sunday. Around 2 p.m., the freezing rain turned to snow across the region, including the Twin Cities metro area. Up to one-tenth of an inch of ice is expected in the St. Michael area, followed by one to three inches of snow.
