The inaurgural tree lighting takes place Tuesday night at St. Michael City Center.
The first-ever Holiday Cheermeister has been chosen just in time for the first annual Holiday Tree Lighting Celebration planned for Tuesday evening in St. Michael. Jim Pichler, of St. Michael, was nominated to be this year's Cheermeister by Julie Daleiden. "He's been involved in the St. Michael community for many years, wearing many different hats," wrote Daleiden on her nomination form. "He deserves to be the first annual Cheermeister because he is cheerful, outgoing and always encouraging support of our local businesses," she continued. The Shop St. Michael group and the St. Michael-Albertville Rotary planted this year's holiday tree at St. Michael City Center for November 27 tree lighting ceremony.
The Shop St. Michael and St. Michael-Albertville Rotary groups combined efforts and planted a holiday tree Wednesday at St. Michael City Center. The groups have planned a Holiday Tree Lighting celebration for November 27. The event will include caroling by St. Michael-Albertville High School’s Choir, caroling and a sing-a-long led by the Crow River Senior Center Choir, holiday stories read by Friends of the Library and local Rotarians, and a special visit from Santa. The event will include a toy and children’s book drive for the Hanover Area Food Shelf. Free hot dogs, chili, cookies and cocoa will be served. The St. Michael Albertville Rotary Club and the Varsity Football Team recently did some road clean up together.
The St. Michael-Albertville Rotary Club and St. Michael-Albertville High School Varsity Football Team recently teamed up for a day of community service. Rotarians and STMA football players cleaned a 2-mile stretch of County Road 35 that has been adopted by STMA Rotary, from Jamison Avenue to Hamlin Avenue. They also assisted several area senior citizens with yard cleanup and window cleaning. Rotarian Kevin Lenz and STMA Varsity Head Football Coach Jared Essler coordinated the community service day. Football team participants for the roadside cleanup included Coach Rich Jensen and seniors Tyler Berhow, Tony Bork, Tyler Dallum, Gavin Dick, Owen Gammell, Ben Gapinski, Allen Giller, Jeff Hackenmueller and Thor Holstad. …

The St. Michael-Albertville rotary exists to serve others and has given over $10,000 to local and international groups.
The St. Michael-Albertville Rotary Club is proud to announce that it contributed more than $10,000 to local and international service projects during its 2011-2012 Rotary fiscal year. Approximately $7,600 of the club’s contributions were awarded locally and to St. Michael-Albertville School District 885. This included a $2,200 grant from Rotary District 5950 for improvements to the environmental education trail between Fieldstone Elementary School and St. Michael-Albertville High School. The STMA Rotary Club’s largest international contribution was $2,000 toward a joint project with the Buffalo and Monticello Rotary Clubs to build a library in Cambodia. Wright County Sheriff Joe Hagerty will be speaking at the St. Michael-Albertville Rotary meeting Tuesday morning.
Wright County Sheriff Joe Hagerty will address the St. Michael-Albertville Rotary Club on Tuesday, Aug. 7. During his presentation, Sheriff Hagerty will provide a public safety update from the Wright County Sheriff’s Office. Sheriff Hagerty began his service to Wright County in 1985 as a Deputy Sheriff. He worked in the jail, dispatch center and a lengthy term on patrol. He was promoted to Patrol Sergeant in 1996 and Patrol Lieutenant in 2001. He was appointed Chief Deputy in 2006. He successfully ran for Sheriff in 2010, was elected and assumed office on Jan. 3, 2011. Sheriff Hagerty was born and raised in St. Michael where he currently resides with his family. St. Michael-Albertville Rotary is bringing back its annual 'Appreciate Art, Appreciate Rotary' event, with the help of three accomplished STMA High School artists.
The St. Michael-Albertville Rotary is teaming up again with local artists to take part in its annual fundraiser and auction. "Appreciate Art, Appreciate Rotary" evening will be held from 5:30 to about 9 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 16, at the St. Michael City Center. This year's student participants–who donated an original piece of artwork to the auction–are Keaton Van't Hull, Tyler Shustrich and Sara Jean, all seniors at the high school. Local artists should be familiar with Van't Hull, who earned a trip to New York City last year through the Minnesota Scholastic Art Awards, and held a public auction at Lake Community Bank to raise funds for the trip.
