Albertville Woman Gets Year in Prison For Thefts From Hassan Bank

Kelly Jo Bistodeau, 51, of Albertville, was sentenced to 366 days in prison for stealing cash out of the automated teller at the First National Bank of Elk River building in Hassan, where she worked.

A Hennepin County Judge has sentenced an Albertville woman to a year in prison after she swindled her employer out of more than a quarter of a million dollars last year.  Kelly Jo Bistodeau, 51, will serve one year, one day in prison after she was convicted of theft by swindle late last month.  The Hennepin County Sheriff's Office issued a news release in June stating the thefts occurred at the First National Bank of Elk River in Hassan. “Financial crimes are very complex investigations with receipts, ledgers, statements, and other financial records that detectives need to examine,” said Hennepin County Sheriff Rich Stanek. Drive-By Shooting, Burglary and Disorderly Conduct: Recent Sentencings in Wright County Court

Otsego, Elk River, Buffalo and Monticello residents received sentencings in the week of Dec. 3. No St. Michael or Albertville sentencings took place. Information was provided by the office of Wright County Attorney Tom Kelly.

Otsego Michael Alan Munkholm, 28, of Otsego, sentenced on Nov. 29 for misdemeanor disorderly conduct to 90 days jail, $100 fine; 90 days stayed for one year on conditions of probation, pay $100 fine plus law library fee, complete 40 hours community service, have no same or similar violations. Sentenced by Judge Davis. Elk River Tyler Louis Volby, 20, of Elk River, sentenced on Dec. 3 for felony drive by shooting to a stay of imposition for three years on conditions of probation, serve 30 days jail, pay $75 public defender co-payment, undergo a chemical dependency assessment and follow all recommendations, have no use or possession of alcohol or non-prescription drugs, submit to random testing, provide DNA sample, obtain permission before …

UPDATED: Former Employee Allegedly Robs $5 Pizza store in St. Michael

The suspect allegedly used a key to get in during non-business hours, stole money, and locked the door as he or she left.

A suspect investigators believe to be a former employee of $5 Pizza in St. Michael broke into the closed store using a key to steal money Saturday night, and locked the door on their way out. "We don't know yet (who it was) — it was someone who had keys to the place," said pizza cook Josh Wade. "We have had the locks changed, because sometimes when people quit, they don't give their keys back." He said the Wright County Sheriff's Department will look through the security tapes today for an investigation. The store, located at 921 Central Ave E, was closed for about half an hour until the theft took place. Wade said the store and police have not confirmed how much was stolen. Michaela Olson's Mom Asks for her Daughter's Necklace to be Returned

In a Saturday afternoon post on a memory Facebook page for Michaela, her mom requests her daughter's necklace be returned.

A necklace that had been placed on the memorial that has sat at the site where Michaela Olson fell on July 1 is missing. Saturday afternoon Robin Olson wrote on the In Loving Memory of Michaela Olson Facebook page that whoever took it please return it. "It breaks my heart to have to write this, but someone took the necklace that was placed around the blue cross at the memorial by the trail where Michaela fell. It was a silver chain with two silver charms: one with a green turtle and one of a blue dolphin. It was placed there by one of her aunts and uncles and by two of her cousins. If you know who has this necklace, I would really appreciate it if they could bring it back. I had planned to put it in her scrapbook," Robin wrote. A picture …

St. Michael Fire scrambled to beat down a transformer fire during recent storms, and theft attempts at the Albertville Premium Outlets have kept police busy, according to the latest police and fire report.

Recent theft attempts at the Albertville Premium Outlets have kept Wright County deputies busy, while a lightning strike in St. Michael had firefighters battling a blaze at an electrical transformer recently.  All blotter items are submitted by the respective agencies.  May 18 The St. Michael Fire Department (SMFD) responded to a medical call in the 2000th block of Langston Lane NE.  A male had fallen and needed assistance. May 19 SMFD responded to a fire call in the 2000th block of Lambert Avenue NE.  A house had been struck by lightning and there was a strong odor of smoke. Albertville Shoe Store Smuggler Sentenced to 20 Years Probation

In another high-profile theft from this summer, a Wright County judge sentenced a St. Michael shoe salesman to 20 years of probation after he stole money from the Skechers store in Albertville.

A St. Michael man who was convicted of stealing thousands of dollars from the Skechers USA Store at the Albertville Premium Outlets will serve one month in jail and be subject to 20 years probation after a sentence was handed down by a Wright County judge last week. Shawn Michael Gohmann, 36, St. Michael, will have to register with local law enforcement, pay more than $500 in fines and be subjected to random testing throughout his probation. He may not vote and cannot own a firearm. According to arrest records: Gohmann allegedly used fraudulent returns on cash sales, forging customers’ signatures, to steal anywhere from $40 to $300 per day. Man Who Swindled St. Michael Woman Out of Camaro Sentenced

An Elk River man who gave a St. Michael woman counterfeit bills and made off with her car will serve nearly two years for the crimes, committed in September.

A 38-year-old Elk River man will serve up to 21 months in prison for attempting to fleece an St. Michael woman out of her used car two months ago.  Cory Donald Wojcik was sentenced on Nov. 8 for Felony Theft by Swindle to 21 months prison. He is ordered to pay restitution, and pay a $50 fine plus surcharges. Wojcik was also sentenced for Felony Fleeing a Peace Officer to 21 months prison, which will run concurrent to the swindle conviction. According to court records:   A St. Michael woman, 27, called the Wright County Sheriff's Department and informed dispatchers that she had sold a 1984 Chevrolet Camaro to a male party. St. MIchael Man Faces Charges of Robbing Cab Driver

Paul Kilian, 23, is facing assault and robbery charges after allegedly assaulting and robbing a cab driver in Otsego. Wright County deputies used police canine "Buck" to apprehend the suspect.

A 23-year-old St. Michael man has been arrested and recenlty made his first court appearance on charges of simple robbery and simple assault after he allegedly "hit" and took money from a cab driver early Sunday, Sept. 11. Paul Stephen Kilian, 23, St. Michael, was arraigned on three charges on Tuesday, Sept. 13, and will make his next court appearance on Tuesday, Sept. 27 in Wright County District Court. Albetville Shoe Salesman Charged with Felony Theft

A St. Michael man, 36, faces charges after a recent criminal investigation

A 36-year-old employee of the Skechers USA Outlet at the Albertville Premium Outlets is facing charges of felony theft after an investigation revealed he allegedly took thousands of dollars from the store using frequent, fraudulent transactions. Shawn Michael Gohmann, St. Michael, who turned 36 last week, allegedly used fraudulent returns on cash sales, forging customers’ signatures, to steal anywhere from $40 to $300 per day. Wright County officers worked with Skechers Corporate Headquarters and a loss prevention team to investigate the employee’s behavior, starting in June of 2011. Albertville Woman Arrested, Accused of Theft By Swindle

According to Hennepin County documents, the woman, a bank employee, stole more than a quarter of a million dollars over five years.

The Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a former bank teller who is accused of stealing money from automated teller machines (ATM) at the Hassan bank where she worked. The sheriff's office issued a news release Wednesday stating the thefts occurred at the First National Bank of Elk River in Hassan.  As a result of the Sheriff’s Office investigation, 51-year-old Kelly Jo Bistodeau of Albertville has been formally charged by the Hennepin County Attorney with felony Theft by Swindle. “Financial crimes are very complex investigations with receipts, ledgers, statements, and other financial records that detectives need to examine,” said Hennepin County Sheriff Rich Stanek.
