Marketplace in St. Michael: 'Race to Get the Last Twinkie'

The grocery store — the only one in the area to carry Hostess products — sold it's last box of Twinkies Friday.

In the St. Michael grocery aisles, Twinkies have been declared extinct.  The only Hostess product left on the shelves of The Marketplace in St. Michael are the Donettes Crumb Mini Donuts. "And believe me, those are pretty crummy," said The Marketplace customer service manager Jason Prigge. Prigge personally sold the last box of Twinkies — the last he believes was sold in the St. Michael-Albertville area — Friday afternoon, shortly before 3 p.m. Coborn's in Albertville never carried Hostess products — the store only carries Little Debbie products. The product flew off the shelves at The Marketplace just hours after Hostess Brands Inc., announced that it has been "forced by a Bakers Union strike to shut down all operations and sell all …
