The string of February snowfall should continue Thursday and Friday as the National Weather Service has issued a winter storm watch for much of the Twin Cities.
UPDATE (10:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 20): UPDATE (Wednesday, Feb. 20): The National Weather Service in Chanhassen has downgraded this week's winter, storm, dubbed Winter Storm Q, to a "winter weather advisory" for the Twin Cities' northern area, including Plymouth. The storm is set to dump nearly a foot of snow along the Minnesota and Iowa border, with even higher amounts possible to the west, in Nebraska. Still, snowfall amounts should hit the three-inch to six-inch mark here in Wright County, making it one of this season's more prominent snowfalls. Up to 10 inches of snow, strong winds are possible Sunday and Monday.
UPDATE (Saturday, Feb. 9, 2:59 p.m.): Wright County is now included in a major winter storm warning, according to the National Weather Service of the Twin Cities in Chanhassen. The weather statement, issued today, states: WINTER STORM WARNING IN EFFECT FROM MIDNIGHT TONIGHT TO 6 PM CST MONDAY... THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN TWIN CITIES/CHANHASSEN HAS ISSUED A WINTER STORM WARNING FOR HEAVY SNOW ALONG WITH THE POSSIBILITY OF SOME FREEZING RAIN AND SLEET... The typically bustling Albertville Premium Outlet mall has become a barren shopping experience in the face of the latest gift from Old Man Winter.
Much like the myriad cars and trucks peppering the ditches of east and westbound Highway 94, Albertville Premium Outlets found itself at the mercy of Old Man Winter on President's Day. Parking lots packed to capacity as recently as Saturday were offering plenty of premium spaces Monday as the winter storm continues to move through Minnesota. Shops packed with patrons on Friday and Saturday now found themselves with more staff than customers at midday on Monday. "This time of year, we know that weather can be a factor and we plan ahead for it.
