Wright County Fair Announces Entertainment Headliners

Hairball with guest Forecasting Fame will be appearing along with other performers.

The Wright County Fair kicks off on Wednesday, July 31 and runs through Sunday, Aug. 4, 2013. Wright County Fairgrounds are located in Howard Lake on County Road 6, North of Highway 12.

Thursday, Aug. 1

Hairball returns on Thursday, Aug. 1 to rock the fair once again. Hairball recreates bands like AC/DC, Motley Crue, Aerosmith, Poison, Def Leppard, Whitesnake, Queen, Kiss, Journey and many others.

Opening for Hairball this year is Forecasting Fame - a classic rock band.  The band members range from 15 to 18 and were selected from 10,000 auditions. They play nationally with the School of Rock All Stars. Forecasting Fame will take the stage at 7:30 p.m. Aug. 1 with Hairball to follow. 

The show is open to all ages and takes place in the grandstand area.  Beer will be available on the concert site to those 21 and over with valid ID.

Tickets are $10 in advance and $15 at the show on Aug. 1. Advance tickets are available throughout Wright County at the following locations: Huikkos Bowling Center/Bison Creek- Buffalo, Dave’s Town Club-Delano, Billy’s-Rockford, Madigans-Maple Lake, Neighbors Bar and Grill- Albertville, Uptown Bar-Waverly, Howard Lake Liquor Store and Troubles Bar and Grille- Howard Lake.

Friday, Aug. 2

Two bands will be playing in the Entertainment Tent on Friday, Aug. 2. Everett Smithson Band will be performing from 1-5 p.m. The Everett Smithson Band plays a variety of music as well as standards that have a unique spin. They specialize in New Orleans / French Quarter Music, Zydeco, Blues, Rockin Roots, Hillbilly Hoedowns, gospel and more.

Friday night will be a huge night in the entertainment tent. Captain May I is made up of some of the area’s best musicians. The band is led by former Hairball bass player Dan Dryden and has become a headliner band in the past year.  Captain May I’s song list includes classic rock songs. Showtime is from 8-12 p.m.

Saturday, Aug. 3

Mitch Gordon and Unleaded will headline 8 p.m. to midnight Saturday, Aug. 3. Unleaded has become a country powerhouse playing at Winstock and Moondance Country Jam early this summer. Saturday night is also cowboy night in the entertainment tent.  Anyone wearing a cowboy hat will get $1 off their first beverage. 

Many other bands and DJ shows will fill the remaining time slots. The Wright County Fair is still looking for a few acts to take our stage at some early times on some days.  Any type of entertainment is welcome if it is suitable for all ages.  Call Ward Westphal at 763-682-1815 for more information and available stages and times.
