I-94 West Chamber of Commerce Highlights of 2013

Because each Chamber Member finds value in their membership in their own, unique way, the I-94 West Chamber of Commerce strives to provide events, programming, and resources with diverse appeal. Highlights of 2013 included:

Signature Events:

From the State of the Cities Luncheon in January and the fun, festive Mardi Gras Bowling Extravaganza in February to the Business Priorities Luncheon Series and the highly anticipated Annual Dinner and Silent Auction in September, the year's Signature Events were a great success. We once again recognized our Region's businesses, organizations, and individuals with the Business & Community Excellence Awards in April. We had a sell-out crowd at July's Golf Tournament and a record number of sponsors for the event.

Building Connections:

The I-94 West Chamber of Commerce offered a number of events and programs to help our Members connect. Business After Hours events and Chamber Connect: Around the Region, our twice-monthly networking meeting, provided Members with an opportunity to spotlight their businesses, whether as a host or a featured speaker. Nearly 40 businesses gathered for our recent B2B Expo. With our Ribbon Cutting ceremonies, we celebrated new businesses, new locations, remodels, and anniversaries.

Legislative:

2013 was an active year on the legislative front. In an effort to keep our Members informed, educated, and updated on issues important to them and our Region, a number of events with a legislative focus were scheduled, including Session Priorities and Minnesota Business Day at the Capitol. In addition, the Chamber hosted a Legislative Recap panel with Representative David FitzSimmons and Senators Mary Kiffmeyer and Warren Limmer and a Congressional Luncheon featuring Congresswoman Michele Bachmann.

Transportation:

Transportation issues are a priority for our Region, and the I-94 West Corridor Coalition made great strides toward improvements along the I-94 West Corridor in our area. MnDOT Commissioner Charles A. Zelle spoke at a meeting in September and recently Governor Dayton announced that the lane expansion project between Rogers and St. Michael will be included in the Corridors of Commerce program.

Join us on Wednesday, December 18 from 9 am to 10:30 am at the Rogers Community Center for a Corridors of Commerce Appreciation Event featuring MnDOT Commissioner Charles A. Zelle and information regarding the project.

Committees and Programs:
The Ambassador Committee continued to represent the Chamber during monthly Business Visits, traveling around the Region to learn more about our Member Businesses. The members of the eLeaders Professional Development Program participated in events focused on networking skills, leadership skills, and community involvement, and hosted a successful Blood Drive in June. The Chamber also introduced the BELONG Campaign, a resource that highlights the value of belonging and provides a way for Members to share that value with other businesses or organizations they believe would find value in Chamber Membership.

Thank you for your support of the I-94 West Chamber of Commerce and best wishes for the New Year!
