Albertville Man Rescued from Pelican Lake

His boat reportedly overturned when the wake from a passing boat caused it to capsize, according to the Wright County Sheriff's Office.

A 61-year-old Albertville man was rescued Monday morning from Pelican Lake in Buffalo Township after his boat reportedly capsized.

The Wright County Sheriff’s Office stated they received a report about 6:27 a.m. Sept. 23 of someone “yelling for help” on Pelican Lake the 5800 block of Edmonson Avenue NE in Buffalo Township. 

“Before searchers could locate the subject, a citizen, who was on the lake and had also, heard the calls for help, located the individual on top of his overturned boat and brought him to shore. The subject was a 61-year-old male from Albertville who reported that he was stopped in the water when the wake of a passing boat caused his boat to capsize,” according to the Wright County Sheriff’s Office.

The Albertville man was reportedly transported to Allina Hospital in Buffalo for exposure.

Wright County deputies along with St. Michael and Buffalo Fire Departments, the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources and Minnesota State Patrol to assist in the search.

According to law enforcement officials, the man was not wearing a personal flotation device at the time of the accident.
