STMA U14 Girls Show Support for Coach Glenn

STMA U14 girls support Coach Glenn with his battle with cancer.

In recent weeks it was communicated to the U14 C3 girls soccer team that their coach, Glenn Knight was diagnosed with rectal cancer (stage 3). This news was a shock to fellow coaches, parents and players. Glenn has been a mainstay in these young girls lives over the years. His enthusiasm and commitment to the girls has been evident. So, much so that two thoughtful team members, Hailey H. and Payton H. took it upon themselves to design t-shirts shirts for Glenn. The whole team are now proud owners of one of t-shirts which they will wear in support of Glenn. On the front, it has a cool design with a soccer cleat and says: "Give cancer the boot" with a blue ribbon and a soccer ball on the back with prayers to Glenn.

Glenn said: "I was overwhelmed by what these girls were able to do, and the initiative involved on their part." Glenn added "I have been taken aback by the sincerity and kindness of the team, families, and particularly, these two girls."

After speaking with Glenn about his diagnoses I was in awe of his positivity and openness. Having known Glenn for years, I have always had respect for him, I can now add admiration. The way in which he has approached this has been nothing but amazing. Coupled with his determination and desire I know Glenn will beat this.
